Green Island is a rain forest-clad coral cay surrounded by coral reefs, situated 27 kilometres off the coast of Cairns. It is a small island, quite unpretentious, and a National Park, and attracts many visitors both day tripping from Cairns and a few staying overnight at the secluded and unobtrusive resort.
From a tourist point of view, you can snorkel, dive, ride in the glass bottom boat, and eat.
An overnight stay is my favourite, although you can walk around the island in 30-40 minutes, you get to experience the birds, the sunrise , the sunset, and the tranquillity of the island when the day trippers have gone and it is quiet.
